Hazem Shaheen is an Egyptian oud player, singer, and composer, born in Alexandria and one of the most prominent independent artists in the Arab world. He began his studies of music in 1992, joined the Institute of Arab Music from which he graduated in 1999, He was a student of Sheikh Imam, Muhammad Afifi, Abdel Moneim Arafa, Abdo Dagher, and Naseer Shamma, who presented him as a Oud soloist through the Oud House project, then studied there and was one of it’s first graduates in 2002. He went on to teach at the Oud House of Cairo for five years, then became a professor of oud at the Egyptian Opera House. In 2001 Shaheen won the title of “best oud player”. Hazem Shaheen founded the "Iskandarella" group in 2005, through which he presented his tunes and musical compositions, and released their first album ”Safha jadeeda" in 2014. Since 2013, he has participated in singing and playing with most of “Ziad Rahbani's concerts and has composed a soundtrack for short films، and then on the "Hazem Shaheen Project” He has participated in many festivals and performed many concerts. He has released notable albums such as "Al-Aish Wal Melh“ "Hajhat Wahshani" and recorded an album”Leqaa” with Naseem Jalal for their project produced by the Arab World Institute and Pias Company.
