Luthier Omar Mohammad Fadhil
Born in 1949, Iraq - Baghdad، has learned and worked since an early age at his father’s factory (Mohammed Fadhil) a manufacturer of musical instruments. Studied the music under the supervision of professor “Tariq Ismail” and Turkish teacher “SASAQ”, and participated in
“Al-Ma’amounia Al-Namouzajieh” .
Has worked in the theater as a violist in 1973 and in Kuwait at workshop of the artist “Mahmood Al-Kuwaiti” , also worked at the Ministry of Education in Kuwait in 1977 at the musical instruments workshop.
He has established “Al-Watr” company and worked as an expert at ministry of culture and media in Iraq in 1991 with the late artist “Muneer Basheer”. Also worked as a lecturer at the High Musical institute in Damascus-Syria.
He established “Mohammed Fadhil Hussein and his Sons Company” after transforming the factory into a company with his father’s partners and his brother “ Falih Mohammed Fadhil” and currently he is a director of his company in Iraq.
He is also a member at Iraqi musician association and worked on the Sumerian harp revival and participated with it in many festivals.
He expanded in the manufacture of musical instruments and made the Sumerian harp and submitted it to UNESCO , In 2014 the director general of UNISCO Mrs. Irina Bokova was received his Sumerian harp in Iraqi museum.
