Sami Naseem
Biography:
Born in 1966 in Iraq, he is an oud player, composer and music researcher at conferences and Arab music festivals and at the first International Oud Forum in Cairo. He holds a diploma from the Institute of Fine Arts, Baghdad, and a B.A. from the College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad.
Received the first prize in the International Oud Competition and got twice the Iraqi Creativity Prize for Musical Composition. He worked as a professor of Oud at the Institute of Musical Studies, the Institute of Fine Arts, and the School of Music and Ballet.
Member of the Iraqi National Committee for Music, the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and the Iraqi Musicians Association, he led and played Oud in the “Babel Musical Heritage” group, founder and director of “Baghdad Oud Ensemble” and “Iraqi Musical Heritage Band”, and director of the Iraqi Oud House for Culture and Arts and the workshop for making musical instruments.
Has participations in many international and local festivals and concerts like ”The Egyptian Opera House“ ”The Institute of the Arab World“ in Paris ”The Medina Festival“ in Tunis ”The Byblos Festival“ in Lebanon ”Jerash Festival“ ”Qurain Festival“ ”Tetouan International Festival for Oud“ and ”Majazin Festival“ in Morocco.
